DescriptionInformation Processing and Publishing focuses on the choice, understanding and use of computer hardware and software to produce creative tasks, using desktop publishing skills and the correct layout of formal documents using current software.

TopicsStudents will explore designing and formatting techniques in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign that can apply to a variety of tasks. They will also be made aware of issues related to health and safety when using technology.
AssessmentPractical skills are assessed through summative activities, including practical assessments and an issue analysis.
Relationship To Further StudyUseful for correct presentation of computer-based work for all subject areas and provides students with pathways for further study and with skills useful for employment and personal use.

PrerequisitesThis course is designed for students who have experience using computers, and students who worked in digital media in year 10. It appeals to those who are creative and have an eye for design.
Special ConditionsMost work will use the school’s computer network facilities. Students will be expected to adopt appropriate awareness of OHS&W issues and will need to be able to function as independent learners.
